There are so many man-made construction materials in the world that existing ones could be used to build a significant portion of new developments, saving resources and energy. Veerenni Park was largely created from local construction waste, giving these materials new life and meaning. The park’s design was based on mapping local materials and aligning them with planned functions. For example, old concrete was transformed into parts of a playground, asphalt cutouts were repurposed for slope reinforcements and flower beds. Self-seeded trees were preserved, and their unique adaptability adds character and poetic value to the park.
